No Longer Humming Along

Score one for the enviro-weenies.

General Motors said Wednesday it was unable to complete the sale of its Hummer brand to China-based Tengzhong and would wind down operations of the brand of military-style sport utility vehicles.

Never drove one. Never will. Next.

Judging The Idol Judges

leave a comment »

While I actually agree with Patti’s opinion, even though I don’t watch this show past the first couple episodes of each season…

Patti LaBelle thinks some people shouldn’t be on “American Idol”—and she’s not talking about the contestants.

Says Labelle: “Some of the judges, I don’t think they’re qualified to even judge.”

The 65-year-old singer wouldn’t say which judge she thought was lacking on the hit Fox show, which has Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi ( KAYR’-ah dee-oh-GWAR’-dee) and Ellen DeGeneres picking America’s top singers. Tuesday’s “Idol” episode saw 12 female semifinalists competitng during “Hollywood Week.”

…I have to do a heel turn just so I can say, “Well I don’t think YOU’RE qualified to sing the National Anthem.”

If this is your thing, then yay. Personally, I prefer those who try to make the moment more about the anthem than themselves.

It’s Not The Size Of The PENSIS But The Motion In The Ocean (LOL)

with 8 comments

So years ago I was checking my work inbox at the old job when this one spam email entered my life. Now I used to get a TON of penis-related ads, and most of the images associated with these advertisements were stupid. However, this one ad caught my eye and I laughed my ass off. I kept this image in my Photobucket account and in my previous blog I referenced it every now and then.

Why am I talking about this? Fast forward to last night when I was in my Photobucket account. I noticed that one of my images was replaced with that stupid picture reading “This image has violated Photobucket’s terms of service.”

These images have been in my account for YEARS and nothing has ever been done about them. Which ad was in violation.?

OH HELL NO.

My God, it’s not even that bad an ad.

I was actually pissed off. This was the only place I ever kept this image, and now it was gone.

Quick. What to do? Well there’s that archive website which is supposed to “save” the Internet. That was a waste of time.

I then turned to help of a longtime KK’s Korner reader in hopes that the message board he admins had some sort of ability to get this previously posted image. Guess what?

OH HELL YEAH~!!!

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY SMUES!

Seriously, what is so terrible about this image? You can’t see any private parts (the chick even makes an effort to cover up her boob). There’s no foul language. It’s simply an awesome awesome awesome picture. I’m sure someone with a stick up the ass was having a bad day and decided to take out it out on me and my Photobucket account.

And while this above-mentioned ad got axed, this one is still around in my Photobucket account.

Not to mention the Naked Chocolate Jesus.

And finally, while I was begging the person above for assistance, I was asking my other message board peeps for help. Another person directed me to a blog with an entry from 2007 that had the SAME PICTURE AND STORY OF BEING INTRODUCED TO THE AD.

This was waiting for me in my work email this morning…

Benedict Brown

with one comment

Oh noes! Scott Brown is with the commies.

For Scott Brown, it appears that the “tea party” is over.

Literally overnight, the fledgling Republican senator who ended Democrats’ filibuster-proof majority by winning a special election in Massachusetts has gone from being the darling of America’s conservative activists to being their goat.

Monday night, Brown announced that he would join four other Republicans in voting to block a GOP filibuster and move forward with a $15-billion jobs bill designed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

Whatever. The guy’s a Masshole. He may not be my ideal candidate, but I’ll take him over Barney Fwank any day. Even Justice Alito sided with the commies right out of the gate.

Better Dead Than Reb

leave a comment »

I’ve heard of mascots getting the boot for being Indians, but I missed this earlier in the century.

University of Mississippi students voted Tuesday to start looking for a mascot to fill the void left by Colonel Reb.

The old Southern gent with a cane and floppy hat was booted as the on-field mascot in 2003 as the school continued its move away from Old South symbols. Since then, the teams have been without an on-field mascot.

In Tuesday’s vote, students had to decide whether the university should begin looking for a successor to the colonel. Some of his die-hard fans had been campaigning against the move.

Ole Miss senior Hannah Loy says she’s disappointed with the vote. She says Colonel Reb’s image has been misconstrued by an older generation.

Colonel Reb. The hell is that?

He got the boot? Lame.

Super Seventies

leave a comment »

Only forty more years to turn that frown upside down.

Fewer responsibilities, financial worries and more time to yourself leads to contentment previously unknown in earlier life.

According to the report from the teenage years until 40 happiness declines. It levels off until 46 and then starts to increase until peaking at 74. Scientists from Germany and America regularly questioned 21,000 men and women how happy they were with their lives providing a scale from one to seven – seven indicated complete contentment.

Teenagers in their late teens marked themselves at around 5.5 which fell to around 5 by age 40.

At 74 happiness averaged at 5.9.

The report, published in the journal Social Indicators Research, said this could be due to older people being more appreciative.

It concluded: “Compared to younger individuals, older people tend to place a greater emphasis on emotional aspects of social interations and are likely to remember the emotional content of their experiences.”

Interesting. I’m in my early/mid-thirties and feel pretty damn content, excluding my petty bitching here of course. Then again, if you think I’m bad now, you should have seen me back then.

When I first heard this story’s headline, my guess was teens were the most miserable. But I didn’t think people that close to the grave would be happiest. Then again, when you can’t remember what you did 5 minutes ago, you probably would be pretty darn content.

Reid Rage

leave a comment »

Come November I hope the Senate Majority Leader doesn’t practice what he preaches.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggested Monday that domestic violence by men has increased due to U.S. joblessness.

Reid, speaking in the midst of a Senate debate over whether to pass a $15 billion package meant to spur job creation, appeared to argue that joblessness would lead to more domestic violence.

“I met with some people while I was home dealing with domestic abuse. It has gotten out of hand,” Reid said on the Senate floor. “Why? Men don’t have jobs.”

Reid said that the effects of joblessness on domestic violence were especially pronounced among men, because, Reid said, women tend to be less abusive.

“Women don’t have jobs either, but women aren’t abusive, most of the time,” he said.

“Men, when they’re out of work, tend to become abusive,” the majority leader added. “Our domestic crisis shelters in Nevada are jammed.”

Then again, I’m sure if Harry ever got roid rage’d up, his wife would probably fear a papercut more than him.
